Abbey Gospill and Kristen Pottle were playing and having fun with kids and their mothers during a Halloween-themed class in the basement of the Spring Park United Church in Charlottetown. Gospill dressed up as a butterfly, while Pottle dressed as Superman.

There was also a unicorn, a pumpkin, an avocado, and even Hermione Granger from “Harry Potter”.

For the entire hour, the class sang a variety of bilingual songs, such as “Voici le petit fantôme” (Here comes the little phantom), sung to the tune of “Little Green Frog”, and danced to songs like “The Monster Mash”.

“The kids had a lot of fun. We’re glad that we were able to make this class something special for the kids,” Gospill said.

Gospill runs The Nest, a studio specializing in bilingual music for children ages 0-6 in Charlottetown. Pottle runs Blossoming Heart Yoga, a yoga studio based in neighbouring Stratford, specializing in yoga for birthing mothers and babies.

This is the first time the two businesses collaborate with each other for a special Halloween-themed event.

“We thought what we do, of course we have big groups of kids and parents that are here, but we are businesses just on our own…so it’s nice just to bounce off ideas of each other and bring our kind of styles together so that we both have a little bit to bring to this table,” Pottle said.

The two are planning more themed classes throughout the holiday season, such as “snow yoga” and singing on Christmas.

“The thing that we are both passionate about is being part of the community for everyone. We are both from away, and coming to classes like this just becoming the space for that is absolutely what we’re looking to do,” Gospill said.
