The Holland College Student Union (HCSU) celebrated its LGBTQ+ community with an outdoor get-together today at the college’s Prince of Wales campus.

Known as the Pride Patio Party, it is an initiative of the HCSU to welcome LGBTQ+ students into the college.

“It’s important that every student at Holland College feels represented and accepted, and events like this demonstrate the (student) union’s commitment to celebrate the diversity of our student population,” said HCSU president Eddie Childs.

Childs hopes the LGBTQ+ community in Holland College knows they are also accepted into the community, as well as in other campuses across P.E.I.

“For me, it’s important that there are people who accept me as I am so I can be me,” Baytos said.
